Molecular Probes and Bioimaging

Design and development of functional organic molecules for analyte detection and imaging. Different bioimaging techniques will be employed to demonstrate application of these new organic molecules.

Funtional Nanomaterials and Hybrids

A range of organic-inorganic hybrid nanomaterials are designed and prepared. Applications of these new materials will be experimented in drug delivery, cancer imaging, photo-thermal therapy, in vivo imaging etc.

Photonics

A study of linear and non-linear optical property of both organic and inorganic molecules as well as materials are studied. Design and surface modification of meta-materials in virtue of small molecule detection and label free sensing are experimented.

Microfluidics

Microfluidic chips are fabricated for conducting flow-mediated catalysis, nano-particle synthesis, nano-particle surface modification etc. Specially designed microchips are employed for disease diagnosis and signaling. Surface-acoustic wave based integrated microfluidic chips are employed for microparticle separation and on-chip surface modification using new reactions.

Energy Storage

Developing and experimenting new active electrode materials for aqueous rechargeable lithium ion batteries, sodium ion batteries and super capacitors.
